A list of the sites I've found to be helpful so far while learning to fly my Honey Bee FP. Probably of little interest to anyone other than myself.
Product and Do-It-Yourself Information
RCUniverse.com: Has user reviews of just about all helicopters (just about everything RC, for that matter). You can also get a feel for how popular certain helicopters are, popularity being good for support when something happens and you don't know how to fix it.
RCGroups.com: Everything you've ever thought of doing has been done before and documented ad nauseam by at least six other people . . . so learn before you waste time and money!
Battery University: Everything you ever wanted to know about batteries. (added 2007-03-01)
Swashplate: Lots of information about electric helicopters, including a beginner's guide to buying and setting up helicopters. (added 2007-03-01)
How to Fly
RADD's School of Rotary Flight: Kind of quirky but apparently very effective lessons on learning to hover. Assumes you're an absolute beginner.
RCHelicopterWeb: Someone's personal site with lessons on learning to fly. This starts at the beginning, but focuses less on learning to hover and gets into more advanced maneuvers.
Stores
Balsa Products: Lots of entry-level helis to choose from with decent prices and excellent customer service (from what I've read).
Hobby Lobby International: Limited selection of helis but excellent service and some reading material for beginners. Beware that their prices fluctuate pretty severely, but they'll match a competitor's price if you ask them to.
HobbyJapan: I'm not sure about their service, but their prices are generally very good.
HeliHobby: Hands down the coolest site for looking at all different kinds of helicopters, from the cheapies like mine all the way up to the giant electric T-Rex 600 and the giant nitro Raptor 90. I've read a lot of bad things about their customer service, though, so I wouldn't order from them even though I like looking at all their pretty pictures.
XHeli.com: I have to include these guys because they screwed me over and I told them I'd do everything I could to denounce them (which isn't very much) until they send me the parts I paid for. These guys suck.
Commonsense RC: Excellent source of batteries, battery accessories, and information about batteries. The quality of their products and their customer service is excellent. (added 2007-03-01)
